Lettings in Leeds

Leeds, West Yorkshire, is the finest city in the north of England. Leeds is the capital of Yorkshire (at least it would be if there was a capital). The city centre is compact, fairly flat, and easy to walk around. The centre of Leeds is notably not a congested traffic city because of its one-way system that keeps traffic flowing. Redevelopments over the past few years have made it a much more friendly for pedestrians. Leeds has good rail links from the rest of the UK and shares an international airport with Bradford. There's a much bigger airport at Manchester, which has frequent trains to Leeds. Harvey Nichols is perhaps the city's most famous store, the luxury clothes retailer's first outside London. Prices are much more sensible at the The Corn Exchange, which contains a number of small emporiums under its distinctive domed roof. This is next to Kirkgate market, another fine building. The Headrow Centre, Leeds Shopping Plaza, St John's Centre, and Merrion Centre are other local shopping complexes. Do not try to visit Leeds Castle (!), since that is several hundred miles away, in Kent. Millennium Square, near the Civic Hall, is often used to stage events including pop concerts, an ice rink, and an Austrian/German Christmas market. Leeds Facts and figures: There is a population of nearly 725,000 people in the Leeds area. Employment: 355,000 (approx); The unemployment rate is consistently below the national average and lower than most major cities. Transport: Leeds claims excellent connections with the rest of the country and indeed Europe by rail, road, air and sea. The City is well linked by the motorway network, with the M1 running from Leeds to London and the M62 linking Leeds with the Seaport of Hull. City Station handles over 500 trains and 40000+ passengers per day.
